About the Position:

We are currently seeking an entry level Environmental Technician that will be housed on-site with one of our major clients. This position reports to the Environmental Compliance Manager and will not be responsible for any direct reports. Essential job functions:

  • Collect, label and lab pack hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams at our clients' locations.
  • Daily collection and consolidation of recycling containers throughout the facility
  • Build partnerships with clients, continually exploring and offering ways to provide service and add value to their operations
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations in hazardous material handling and promote safety awareness
    • Assist the Environmental Compliance Manager with federal and state compliance related needs as necessary
    • Conduct daily inspections
  • Follow procedures and checklists for routine tasks
  • Utilize chemical identification information
  • Interact with customers as a contractor onsite on compliance guidelines
  • Occasional on-call work in the event of a chemical spill or similar

 Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Relevant experience with various disposal methods/facilities. CHMM certification and industrial experience are a plus
  • Degree in scientific field-Environmental Science or Chemistry preferred
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, with limited supervision
  • Willing to "roll up the sleeves" and work
  • Ability to "switch gears" and complete tasks out of order
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

 Physical requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen (initial & random)
  • Ability to maneuver full 55 gallon drums
  • Ability to stand, reach, bend, walk and climb stairs frequently
  • Ability to lift 100 pounds or more

Education and training requirements:

  • Some studies in an Environmental Science field
  • Environmental Science or Chemistry Degree preferred
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER is a plus
